He's really not great at jiu jitsu. He's a phony black belt at BJJ. BJJ is unforgiving of phony black belts like no other art. Don't be scammed by this sucker. 12768f7

Written by Suspicious that these people c on January 24, 2011 from stamford, connecticut, US Well, when you look around, you see a lot of very reputable and accomplished people saying good things about him and his instruction. As far as fancy schools, if a fraud can do it, then why can't you? Perhaps he produces great students and has a ton of them because he's good at what he does ...? As far as not competing - neither does John Danaher and a whole handful of other BJJ Black Belts. Greg Jackson runs one of the best MMA camps in the country and he hasn't won anything. Not rolling? Not true -it's easy to research that one and debunk it. Besides, even if he didn't, a lot of great coaches don't. There are plenty of BJJ Black Belts who took different belts from different instructors along the way. Actually it would be even more impressive if everything bad about him was true: not a black belt, never competed in anything, never rolls - yet he has these huge schools and produces students that win. That would make him even more impressive. This is obviously all coming from people with a motivation to spread bad things about him - most likely competing schools - which is actually the worst thing going on here. |
2. Written by Facts on January 24, 2011 from stamford, connecticut, US Whoever posted "Facts" is way out of line and completely wrong. It was stated that he never competed: this is untrue. He never rolls: untrue. He received his Black Belt from a legit BJJ Black Belt and produces good students. He does his job well. The other allegations are completely untrue and anything of a sexual nature can be easily dismissed if you check the sex offense registry - he's not on there. The only thing questionable here is why people are going out of their way to annonymously post these things here ... what's the motivation? Competing school perhaps? Why don't you try and accomplish something on your own.
3. Written by Concerned on January 19, 2011 from bridgeport, connecticut, US Chug Chug Chug...how's the Kool Aid taste Reaper? Looks like you have bought into the propoganda machine hook, line, and sinker. The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist.
4. Written by Reaper on January 6, 2011 from hershey, pennsylvania, US Ive seen Gene roll so I don't know where this stuff about him not rolling comes from. As far as the past stuff, if you weren't there how can you speculate? Its easy to spread rumors its harder to back it, so you are just spewing hot air. As far as the allegations, nothings come to fruition and the connections of the "victim" to competitors is pretty interesting. Sounds like a set up if you ask me but you guys cant grasp that can you. Mr. Anonymous and Mr.Omoplata you probably just couldn't hang which is why you are so angry. Good luck on your belts, sounds like you'll need it.
5. Written by Omoplata on May 26, 2010 from garrison, new york, US If you've been training under Gene for 10 years, and you say he's a stand up guy and legitimate, then you are either blind, *** or on his payroll. He got every one of his belts from a different person you dipshit. None of that is his students fault but the fact remains that he's a fraud and aside from all the jiu-jitsu bullshit he's guilty of, he's also a *** piece of *** as a human being. Open up your *** eyes. I would hope that you strive to wear a black belt someday. Do you really want it to be from someone like Gene Simco?
6. Written by JB on December 31, 2009 from garrison, new york, US Nobody ever said Gene doesn't have top-notch students. The FACT is he doesn't roll with his students, he doesn't compete - never has, and his lineage to his black belt is extremely questionable at that. None of that is debatable. Money allows you to have pretty training facilities and pay MMA guys to teach (no way in *** Simco is teaching MMA himself since he's never stepped in the cage or the ring before). Those are all facts. No insults, no bullshit flaming or any of that. FACTS.
7. Written by Concerned on November 16, 2009 from bridgeport, connecticut, US While the original post is ridiculous, how do the defenders of Mr. Simco explain his conviction of endangering the welfare of a child charge? Do the police officers he trains realize he was accused of molesting a 14 year old girl after getting her drunk at his house and taking her to bed with he and his wife? Simco is explaining it away as a made up story motivated by professional jealousy, but stay tuned since the real information disclosed in his court case will be available soon...
8. Written by Tito on October 23, 2009 from bronx, new york, US I would like to set the record straight...first of all...Gene Simco is a stand up guy and a remarkable instructor. While it is true he runs programs out of karate schools, he recently left from one place in Wappingers Falls he was teaching out of. This was a great move because the place we were was run (in my opinion) by a total lowlife. He has since left to open his own "STABLE" school in the City of Newburgh. I am not quite sure what the comment about "being safe" around the new school. Are you a racist? Do you know that Mr. Simco teaches half priced martial arts to children in the City of Newburgh, offering them a safe alternative to crime and street life? And if Newburgh is such as "scary" place for you, I suggest you go back to NYMAG and learn how to defend yourself seeing as the probram you currentl;y chose to train in has not given you the confidence to do so chump! Not to mention...doesn't it take courage and confidence to open any business in this ecominic climate, much less a business in a urban area. Also Mr. Racist, 50% of the City of Newburgh Police Department trains under the direction of Mr. Simco, so if you are really that scared we could provide you with an escort to your car like we do for our Women's Program. I can also say that Gene is signing close to 40 students a week between his now THREE training centers (who are also thriving) so if he is a failure in business, I want to fail just like him!!! I find this guys post humorous and pathetic. It is just another attempt by a local competitor to try a smear Gene Simco. IP ADDRESSES ARE TRACEABLE and I am sure the Detectives in the City of Newburgh Police would love to aide in finding out where this came from. I hope Mr. Simco files for slander. ![]()
9. Written by Former NYMAG student on October 21, 2009 from poughkeepsie, new york, US I agree that the person who posted those remarks is pretty vulgar, however its known that NYMAG closed its doors for business on Noxon Rd. when he couldn't "manage the school" or his students properly. He then began conducting classes out of his home in Hyde Park which I was very unhappy with. I chose to move on and train at a school that was much more stable and didn't have a student body filled with huge egos. I see on the internet that he has piggybacked with karate schools in the area and opened a very small school in the City of Newburgh...driving into that part of town you better know how to defend yourself!...it seems that he still lacks the courage and confidence to open a school and provide a stable place for his students to train...I guess thats what happens when you fail in business
10. Written by NYMAG Student on October 20, 2009 from poughkeepsie, new york, US Obviously whomever posted this "review" is not very intelligent. This comment was posted by local competition at the same time they opened a competing school, and who happened to have trained in NYMAG under Gene Simco for over 5 years. Frauds don't make Pan Am and World Champions, the competition writing these "reviews" don't either, but Gene Simco does. I have been a member of NYMAG for over 10 years and have seen him work with, roll with and train with multiple black belts and witnessed him getting his black belt in person. The comments posted are simply gossip and rumor put together as part of a smear campaign.
