He comes across as knowledgable to the average layman. I encourage all to do their research into this fraud. He has had numerous affiliations that have been determined to be bogus or untrue!. He is the . of the BJJ comunity.. Some notable traits are: not rolling(sparring) w/ students,

self promotion (to brown belt 3 x by,marco alvan,Relson Gracie (over the phone?), and then michal jen) the first 2 were determined to be bogus, he then went from a no stripe brown to a black belt by Marcelo "Nigue" Sandes whom he hadn't even seen for years". He is what we call a belt shopper.. Most of his credentials are from organizations that he heads up or that don't know any better". What most people don't know is that the military self defense courses are just the basics of real Brazilian Jiu- Jitsu,. He exploits lack of this knowledge!. So if someone is a marine and says he is "a great teacher", the general public assumes the Marine is credible because they don't know that anyone w/ 1-2 yrs in BJJ could teach the same things. 35b4525

To believe the accusations about him without proper evidence is just as naive as believing he is innocent. Get to know the guy before you try and tarnish his reputation. Get all the facts before you run your ignorant mouths.

"what do ya know... another 1st place award won by a NYMAG member in the recent NAGA tournament. Lets add it to the rest of the gold medals hanging on the wall."

Congratulations to the competitor, but gold medals hanging on Simco's wall do not wash away the sins of his past. Instead, they serve as a stain to anyone that would compete under him and defend him without knowing the truth. Apparently, ignorance is bliss...

Any informed consumer should do their research before they put their trust in an instructor. The numerous forum threads over years and years questioning his promotion lineage, drawing attention to his marketing lies, his shady business practices, and most recently his arrest and conviction involving endangering the welfare of a minor should all be enough to create pause and a desire for more information.

Simco has conveniently run away from his past and sheltered himself and his students from the rest of the grappling community to salvage his reputation. To believe that professional jealousy is the culprit is extremely naive considering the vastness of the alleged conspiracy against him.

He is hanging his hat on the many talented athletes over the years that would have flourished if they trained in their own basement. Understand that for all his students' competitive medals, he knows nothing about jiujitsu as a competitive sport. He doesn't go to tournaments to coach or spectate, he doesn't understand the rules, and he was a winless competitor the few times he actually competed himself. The credit should go to his students for being successful despite his inability to properly prepare and coach them.

To any existing student that wishes to defend him, stop drinking the koolaid and find out for yourself what everybody is saying and you will do yourself and your jiujitsu a world of good.

This comment was posted by local competition at the same time they opened a competing school, and who happened to have trained in NYMAG under Gene Simco for over 5 years.

Frauds don't make Pan Am and World Champions, the competition writing these "reviews" don't either, but Gene Simco does. I have been a member of NYMAG for over 10 years and have seen him work with, roll with and train with multiple black belts and witnessed him getting his black belt in person. The comments posted are simply gossip and rumor put together as part of a smear campaign.

Comments on Gene Simco/ Nymag is not a real black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
